At the National
Women's Breakfast held during the 2007 nationals weekend, we
announced some new chair positions for the Women's Commission.
After 5 years of coordinating the breakfast and serving as the
WC Vice Chair of Special Events, Jean McGuire will be stepping
up to fill Sherri Wattenbarger's very large shoes as Co-Chair of
the Women's Commission. She will work with Ashley Rosilier
this year to continue serving women in the sport of triathlon.
Jean's energy and enthusiasm are infectious and we can't wait to
see what ideas she brings to the role of co-chair. Jean said, "I
am quite honored and excited at the opportunities ahead. In the
seven years I've been involved in triathlon I've seen more and
more women enter the sport each year. It's a rare race that
we're in the minority in numbers and I've never seen a race
where we were not at least equal in heart."
In addition, Bobbie LaPorte will be taking over the role of Vice
Chair of Special Events and will be responsible for the National
Women's Breakfast in 2008 (and beyond :-). Bobbie also brings
tremendous energy and fresh ideas and we are excited to have her
step into a leadership role within the commission.
